Debate Over For Playoff Spots (MLSTalk Podcast)

In this episode of the MLSTalk Podcast, Robert Hay comes back to the podcast after an absence to join moderator Earl Reed and Lisa Erickson for some healthy soccer debate. They hit the hard issues, namely the matches that decided the 10 teams who would participate in the postseason. They examined the platforms, and while there may not be many October surprises in this podcast, there is some healthy discussion about which teams surprised and disappointed in 2012.

To round out the podcast, they previewed the Galaxy/Whitecaps contest, and mulled over which incumbent coaches could be upset in their efforts to be retained.

  1. The original Tom says:

Enjoyed the pod guys, thanks for doing it. It speaks well of the league that a team you predicted to finish 7th and 8th in the west (which puts them near 14th overall) has won the Supporters Shield as best regular season record.

  2. KS says:

Bunch of Seattle haters – have fun with that (at least you guys admitted it this time). I’d listen more if you guys were less biased. On the Cascadia Cup, the unbalanced schedule makes the thing shady this yr. Sounders had 4 road games and 2 home games (Van: 3r, 3h, Por: 2r, 4h) – so whatever.

On refs, we can agree that Geiger has problems.

Good luck to everyone’s teams in the playoffs.

    • Earl Reed says:

No harm intended KS…Seattle has had a good run in the last few years.

Hopefully we can get another podcast out before the playoffs begin. We have a big storm headed to the Atlantic seaboard…our record night might be awash. Hopefully we’ll get it out one way or the other!
