Stormy Weather (MLSTalk Podcast)

The MLSTalk Crew got together a day early this week to bid adieu to the Major League Soccer regular season before Hurricane Grace would have a chance to wash it out. The seeds are set, the matches played, but the topic of the moment was the new deal between NBC Universal and the English Premier League. The ramifications for MLS were discussed, as it could be a very good (or bad) development for the league.

The recent matches (and their impact on the Playoff brackets) were discussed, including congratulations to Chris Wondolowski for a record-tying season. While they didn’t know the ending of the match, the LA Galaxy scored late through Mike Magee to keep Seattle in the #3 position in the West (and also ensure DC United has the third best record in the league).

They also previewed the 4 vs 5 matchups midweek. They finished up with some talk of Landon Donovan’s future, followed by their MLS Best XIs.

Please be on the lookout Friday for another podcast as we try to keep up with the playoff developments. Two teams will be knocked out on Wednesday and Thursday, and we’ll break it all down. Thank you for listening to the podcast, feel free to reach us at these addresses or comment below:

when I first started listening to your podcast earlier this year I thought it was the worst podcast I’d ever heard. But since I follow MLS and there aren’t many other podcasts devoted to MLS I kept listening. And your podcast has grown on me. It’s not great, but not terrible either. But Daniel has to go. I’m sure he’s a really fun guy and seems properly devoted to MLS. But he’s annoying and his takes are often either ridiculously verbose, incoherent, wishy washy or all of the above.

Cases in point- today when he let out his scream about NYRB vs DCU in the playoffs. Good God, man. People listen to these things with earbuds. And that cackling, too loud laugh- aaack!

And the takes- like his meandering triple loop take on whether Landon Donovan wants to still play in MLS. How many words do you need to say the same thing three different ways. And his take on Chicago vs Houston. Play it back and tell me if you can make any sense out of it. Not only was it incoherent, there was no real content. “The team that does the best with its opportunities will win”. Really? This after telling us how offensively strong both teams are. Seriously? Houston and Chicago?

Okay- I’m done. Sorry Daniel. Love the enthusiasm but get an editor. And try and cover your mike before you let out another eardrum piercing scream.

Robert Hay on the other hand- very good and easy to listen to. More Robert, please. And dump the San Jose chick.

    Peace. Out.
